It was the usual atmosphere you'd expect from a cemetery. The sun was blocked by menacing clouds, the temperature felt colder and the wind was dead. The silence was deafening. And yet, this was supposed to be a place of rest. He could barely stand staying here much longer. But he was on a mission of sorts and wasn't going to leave until he had finished the task. What was this mission? Well... He found it strange but he was going to do it anyway. Maybe it could bring him some peace? He was off to visit a grave. Particularly, the one of Sara. A young woman he had fallen for. Of course, he never succumbed to those feelings... But still, he did miss her dearly and wished she had never committed suicide. If only he could have stopped her...
Silas had finally reached the grave, staring down at the tombstone and reading to himself, over and over, her name. He had seen mortals come to the graves of their loved ones and talk like they are there. But they weren't... Their body might have been buried but their soul is no longer there. Her's wasn't either. The demon had claimed it...He recalled that moment perfectly well. It was not only a failure on his part but also a tremendous blow to the angel. He had almost forsaken his Father because of the depression he experienced. This little visit certainly wasn't helping...
The guardian closed his eyes and sighed, troubled by the memories. "I can't believe I failed you," he spoke as if she was actually there. "I'm sorry..." he continued to both her as well as Father. Then he put a rose on her grave he was given at the entrance. As the young mortal had advised him to do. Yes she was probably only ten years old and she seemed so kind and innocent. Her brother on the other hand was a bit older and not so kind, taking the place of rest as a means of business by selling grave ornaments. He wasn't one to judge though.
Once this was all through and finding no peace here, Silas gave one last look to her grave before turning and walking away, watching others as they mourned as he passed through. He hated seeing mortals die. He understood it was part of being a mortal but it was still a shame. It wasn't as bad when it was indeed their time to go, but when someone takes their life or someone else's that was what he couldn't stand.
All of this and more had ran through his mind, taking his attention from where it was truly needed. Silas experienced the mistake of his when he bumped into an unknowing victim. "Oh! I'm sorry. Are you okay?" he asked, hoping he hadn't harmed them.
